The final frontier

Svalbard is the last stop for humans before they enter the icy wilderness that stretches to the North Pole. It is a place of incredible beauty and although extensively mined for coal, still somehow manages to feel untouched. This image was taken during Polar Night when the sun does not breach the horizon and there are only a very few hours of light. The man gazing in awe gives scale to the image.
